Iran summoned France’s Messenger to Tehran to protest against the “abusive” remarks made by the French Foreign Minister after the Iranian director received the main prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
Iranian director Joopher Panahi won the prestigious Palm -D’or for his movie, it was just a chance On Saturday, a political drama, inspired by him sometimes in prison.

He called the congratulatory message as “irresponsible and provocative”, adding that France “does not dream at all, comment on Iran, citing what he called from France’s inability to support Palestinians in Gaza.
He demanded an official explanation from the French government, and the messenger said he would be transmitted to Paris.
In recent years, Panahi has been in prison and leaving prison for open criticism of the Iranian institution.
He spent seven months in prison before being released in February 2023.
He was previously sentenced to six years in 2010 for supporting anti -government protests and creating a “propaganda against the system”, serving two months.
Like his conditions in prison, he was given a 20-year ban on filming and traveling outside his country.
Despite this, he shot that it was just an accident in Iran.
The film follows five ordinary Iranians, when they face the person they believe, tortured them in prison – the characters associated with the conversations conducted Panahs with friends about the “violence and cruelty of the Iranian government”.
During his speech, he called on the Iranians to “join forces.”
“No one dares to tell us what kind of clothes we have to wear what we should do or what we should not do.”
Shortly after the ceremony, his first appearance at the International Film Festival in 15 years, he told reporters that he would return to Tehran.
“As soon as I finish my work, I will return to Iran,” he told reporters in Cannes. “And I will ask myself what my next movie will be.”
