The cost of the Premier League League parties of the Premier Indian (IPL) will increase after the Central Government reviews the GST rates for sporting events and entertainment. Above all, the GST council has moved IPL tickets to the highest tax support, along with luxury categories such as Casinos and Race Clubs.
The Indian Premier League attracts massive crowds every season, with supporters attending stadiums from all over India to see more important players such as Shot kohli, Rohit Sharmaand Jasprit bumrah in action. However, fans will have to pay higher costs for the stadium entry, as ticket prices could be reviewed.
The costs of the ticket will increase for the Indian Premier League from the 2026 season. Mostly the Government has placed high -profile sports events under the 40% GST slab. IPL entries had 28% of GST above, but fans will now have an additional increase of 12%.

Under the revised taxation, fans will significantly pay more to the ticket meter. For example, a € 1,000 ticket will cost $ 1,400.
This increase is expected to affect supporters in all places, regardless of the category or location, as now the entire tournament is within the highest tax strip.
As the Indian Premier League is still the most lucrative cricket league in India and one of the largest world sports shows, the new GST regime will reach fans directly in the pockets. However, the change is unlikely to affect attendance at stadiums.
India Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman confirmed after a meeting of the GST Council of September 3, which have made significant changes to the tax system.
“ For all specified shareholders, including bets, casinos, gambling games, horse racing, lottery and online money games, the 40% GST rate will be applied. Admission to sports events such as IPL will attract 40% of the TPS.However, this 40% rate will not be applied to recognized sporting events ”, a detailed statement. In the circular published by the GST Council on the new reforms read.
“The entrance to other sporting events, including recognized sporting events where the ticket price is not more than 500 RS, is still free and, if the ticket price is more than 500 Rs.
The GST hike will not affect the international or national cricket in India. Tickets for these parties will continue under the 18%tax rate.
The 40% slab only applies to the IPL and selects great profile events, which causes them more costs for fans. In the meantime, sports events with ticket prices less than 500 ₹ remain exempt from TPS.
India will play its next international match during the next Asia Cup, from September 9 at the United Arab Emirates. Men in Blue will host a house test series Against the western Indies from October 2, 2025. In particular, the Indian Premier League will take place in the March window -most every year.
