The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will start on March 21 and conclude on May 25. The announcement was made by BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla during an exclusive conversation with Sports Tak. The dates are a slight revision of the previously proposed March 14 start.
The next season of IPL will follow immediately after the ICC Champions Trophywhich extends from February 19 to March 9. The tight schedule highlights the packed Indian cricket calendar, with back-to-back marquee events.
The inaugural IPL 2025 will be held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and the rest of the schedule is expected to be released soon.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), led by a new captain, will enter the new season as the reigning champions. KKR claimed the title last year by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a thrilling finale.
