IPL 2025 was suspended for a week on the tensions of India-Pakistan; New Schedule to announce soon

In an unprecedented movement, the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) has temporarily suspended the rest of the IPL 2025 for a week. This decision, effectively, comes to increase national security concerns after a recent terrorist attack and military tension on the border. The IPL Governing Council, after broad consultations with all interested parties, has chosen to prioritize the country’s sovereignty and unity during this critical time.

The BCCI announcement was made after a series of debates with representatives of franchises, players, broadcasters, sponsors and other associate members. Most of the franchises expressed their learning to continue the league in the current circumstances, and the players stated their concern for the predominant atmosphere. The governing body emphasized that while the Cricket occupies a special place in the cultural and sports fabric of India, the security and feelings of all those involved are still paramount.

Putting in full solidarity with the Government of India and the armed forces, the BCCI highlighted the courage and relentless service of the Indian soldiers involved in the Sindoor operation, a decisive military response to the terrorist incident and the cross-border aggression of Pakistan’s forces. The Council acknowledged the unmatched sacrifices made by the armed forces and said that the Cricket would never reach the country’s national integrity and interest.

New Schedule to announce soon

Although the tournament remains suspended for a week, the BCCI clarified that updates on reviewed schedules and games will be shared after a detailed evaluation in coordination with relevant authorities. The Council assured the fans that it would work to resume the tournament responsible once it allows the situation.

The BCCI also thanked the official Jiostar, sponsor of the Tata title and other commercial partners to support the decision without hesitation. His cooperation, said the Council, reflects a shared commitment to national priorities on commercial or entertainment interests.
