It Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) has moved rapidly to address uncertainty around the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025It was suspended earlier this week due to the rise in tensions between India and Pakistan. With 16 games, including the playoffs and the final, they still stopped playing, the BCCI has now had three potential places to host the rest of the tournament, in case the Indian situation remains unstable.
Suspension of IPL 2025 for security reasons
The IPL 2025 stopped abruptly on May 9, after the 58th league game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called in half for security reasons. The decision, made in consultation with representatives of the franchise and key interest groups, aimed to guarantee the safety of players, officials and fans. The league, which began on March 22, was originally scheduled to conclude with the final in the Kolkata Eden Gardens on May 25.
With the suspension in its place, the BCCI has been exploring contingency plans to ensure the success of the season. The remaining matches include 12 league games and four playoff games, a critical phase in the tournament determined by the world’s most lucrative T20 league champion.

BCCI First lists three places for the rest of IPL 2025
Given the ongoing security problems, the BCCI has identified three cities as potential hosts for the remaining parties: Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
However, the plan will only be implemented if the tournament resumes in May.
According to Espncricinfo, BCCI officials are cautious about the resumption of the IPL season. The report indicates that the fate of the league is related to an improvement in the military situation between India and Pakistan; If tensions persist, the tournament could be held at the end of the year. A possible resumption may also be concerned with the availability of players abroad, many of whom have returned home for security reasons. Of the three cities currently shortlized as potential places, only Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) remains in contentious for the playoffs. With Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) already eliminated, resuming parties in these specific cities could give the house a significant advantage during the Playoff phase.
