International “assurance” planned to cease Ukraine’s fire

The potential deployment of Western troops in Ukraine, which is discussed in London, should be described as “assurance force” rather than “peacekeeping”, say defense and diplomatic sources.

Currently, it is baptized by the multinational power of Ukraine or the MF, it will be sent to the country to secure any ceasefire and encourage long -term confidence in the country.

The focus would be to provide Ukraine with air cover to preserve its sky and sea presence in the Black Sea to stimulate trade.

The deployment of the so -called “bots on the ground” – probably about 20,000 strong – will not be large enough to apply any calm.

Instead, the troops provided by the so -called “coalition” are likely to be located to protect cities, ports and main energy infrastructure.

One option is that the MFA cannot work in the east of Ukraine near the front line to try to assure Russia that it does not pose about the offensive threat.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin have repeatedly stated that they would not agree as a result of ceasefire if European and other forces are located in Ukraine.

Sources say any transnational operation in Ukraine will not be a “peacekeeping force” and should not be described as such.

Peacekeeping forces – under the auspices of the UN or the UN or NATO – are traditionally impartial, act with the consent of both sides and use strength only to protect itself. The multinational force that is discussed will be very on the side of Ukraine to help restrain its future Russian aggression.

At the moment, it is not expected that the multinational force on the ground will monitor any ceasefire. This will be done by Ukrainian troops on front and western observation assets in the air and space.

Sources also say that coalition troops will not be deployed to ensure the so -called “force” – that is, a force smaller than the opponent, designed to restrain the attack without causing escalation – when Russia resumed invading Ukraine.

They say that the military influence of any union deployment of about 20,000 troops will be limited compared to the number of troops on both sides of the front line.

Ukraine has almost a million military personnel, the Russian army is even greater.

A considerable part in the focus of discussions on Thursday is how the best international force can provide Ukraine with assets it has, especially the possibilities in the air.

Thus, there will be discussions about which countries can provide combat aircraft to preserve the sky of Ukraine safe during the ceasefire.

There will also be discussions on how to make the Black Sea safe for delivery. This may include two components: how best to avoid shipping from the mines and which military -marine operative group can ensure the presence of security in the sea.

The key uncertainty is whether the US provides any air, satellite or intelligence for any European force on Earth.

US still stated that it wouldn’t be desirable To provide any military “back platform”.

The European strategy is still to stop asking the US and instead organize the best strength and opportunities that can ensure Ukraine’s safety in the future. Once the details are agreed, the UK, France and others will see whether the European proposal will be significant enough to change and agree to play some role.

What, of course, all this planning is some ceasefire agreed in Ukraine.

While the United States remains optimistic, many in Ukraine remain skeptical that Russia even wants to finish fighting.
