Inside the desert object of Utah is preparing for life on Mars

Hidden among the majestic deserts of the Utah, about 7 miles from the nearest city, is a small research institution designed to prepare people for life on Mars.

Mars Society, a non -profit organization that manages Mars Research Station, or MDRS, invited CNBC to shade one of its analog crews on a recent mission.

315 Crew 315 spent two weeks, living at the research station, performing the same procedures as Mars.

David Laud, who held the position of crew commander, described a typical day.

“So, we are all going around 7 am around the general deck, and we had breakfast,” he said. “At about 8:00 we have the first meeting on the day when we plan a day. And then in the morning we usually have an Eve of two people, and usually another afternoon.”
