Indy 500: Robert Schwartzman recalls “really scary” pit

After the end of about 87 circles, he entered the stall, and his car brought when he entered the box. Four members of his crew tried to avoid a sliding car, but could not. One crew member was taken away on a stretcher.

“I frankly, I felt really strange brakes when I went slowly into Pete -Lein. I closed both front tires, which usually was wrong,” Schwartzman said. “I wasn’t sure it was the brakes or because the tires were cold. I tried to be very slow. But as soon as I touched the brakes, my whole front was lost and I went right into the guys.

“It was really scary because at that moment I was in braking, I was just a passenger.”

The racing driver in Prema became the first beginner to take the pole since 1983.

“It’s just very sad because we have done such a good job in qualifying,” he said. “But this is Indy 500. Everything can happen. A lot of strong drivers get out of the race or behind. It’s Indy 500. It happens.”

Alex Pao took home the checkered flag. It was his first win in Indy 500 and the fifth in the first six races of the 2025 season.
