Indiana takes the first measures in terms of a long shot to purchase parts of Illinois

Indiana takes the first step to quite unlikely efforts to make changes to the border and buy parts of Illinois.

This happens when the inhabitants of some counties Illinois seek to separate from the densely populated and deep blue Chicago.

But despite the support of the Indian government and the people in the Illinois constituencies who would change the states, the Illinois government and the US Congress, they were to approve a plan to change state borders.

Selected officials Illinois do not support this idea.

A bill on a satellite in Illinois, which authorizes the state to participate in the border change commission, did not receive hearings in Committee on House Illinois. Democrat Illinois Governor JB Pritzker also called the measure Indiana earlier this year as “trick”.

Minor borders changes between the states are not a new idea, since at least 50 in the US history reports, the National Center for Interstate Compact Compact Councils of State Government reports. However, no major changes were implemented from the Civil War era when some counties in Virginia were divided to create West Virginia.

Current efforts to change the border between Illinois and Indiana partially fueled political divisions. Chicago area is controlled by the Democrats, and, given the large population of the district, the party also controls the state government, and the Republicans represent many other parts of Illinois. The Indian government, meanwhile, is controlled by Republicans.

Over the past five years, voters in 33 counties Illinois have approved the voting measures, asking whether they wanted to consider the Cook County, the county, which includes Chicago to form a new state. But the initiative does not necessarily mean that they will join Indiana if provided.

Similar efforts continue in the Eastern Oregon, as some constituencies in this state controlled by the Democrats want to break away and join the Republican Idah. The Aidakh House approved the measure two years ago, in which Oregon would enter the discussion, but such measures did not move forward because they remain detained in the commissions in Oregon’s legislative body.
