India and Canada have appointed new supreme commissioners to each other’s countries, in the last stage of restoring ties that tenses at the murder of the Sikh leader of the separatist in Vancouver’s suburbs in 2023.
The previous High Commissioner of India left Canada last October after Ottawa sent him, lining six diplomats with the murder of Hardep Singh Nijar – though Delhi insisted him.
On the same day, India ordered six senior Canadian diplomats, including acting the High Commissioner.
Mutual expulsion of leading diplomats last year meant an unprecedented low heart rate.
In June 2023, Nijar, appointed by India’s terrorist in 2020, was shot dead by two militants near the Sikh temple in Vancouver.
Relations between the two countries deteriorated a few months after the former Prime Minister Justin Trudu allegedly “reliable charges”, which associate Indian government agents with the murder of Nijar.
India called the allegations “inappropriate and motivated” and accused Canada of providing asylum for separatists.
At his first meeting in Canada in June, Modi Prime Minister and the successor of Trudu Mark Carney agreed to restore senior diplomats, a thaw sign.
Currently, Ottawa called Christopher the dick his new messenger in Delhi, and India appointed Dinensh to Pataika, now the ambassador to Spain as a representative in Canada.
Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Ananda said Mr. Kuetra’s appointment was a “step -by -step approach to deepening diplomatic activity” with India.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India stated that Mr. -Nn Patna “is expected to bring the task soon.”
India has sharply criticized Canada for the transfer of the Promolist movement, saying that Ottava has long known and monitoring such groups. Khalistan’s movement calls for an independent homeland for Sikhs in India.
About 770,000 Sikhs live in Canada, where the largest Sikh diaspora outside the Indian state of Punjab live.
