Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) is the son of the head of the village of the village of the vast (Gerard Butler), who leads the village of Berk in their endless war against the Dragons. But hiccup is not stock or extensive – it is gracious, awkward and brain. Knowing that he cannot become a dragon strength killer, he designs a machine to capture the monsters-but when he comes face to face with a reduced dragon, without defense he names teeth, he realizes that everything he knows about dragons may be very wrong.

The world created by this film is extremely specific. The Berk’s decorating images are clearly inspired by Scandinavian aesthetics, while the dragon’s imagery is completely original. The cast of characters is complete and likeable, including actors like Craig Ferguson, Kristen Wiig and Ferrera America.

It’s an indulging experience that will transport you to another world, and isn’t that what we all want – and expect – of animated movies?

The images are spectacular

Each dragon in this film has a specific skill set and creative features, from the two-end zippleback to the self-immolating antagonistic nightmare. The animators let the Dragons be truly scary and look irritated, rather than worrying too much about making them “cute” or marketable as toys. (Except for the very cute teeth, but we will arrive later.)

One thing that Httyd Doing very well is to capture the feeling of flight – ascending on a dragonback alongside a hiccup is really exciting.

Generally, the look of this film is beautiful and remarkable in that classic Dreamworks fashion.

Toothless is irresistible

In the history of animals’ sidekicks of animated films, toothless flies high above the rest. Beautiful designed, it’s part of a lizard, a cat part and even a little human – a hiccup dragon has a layered personality from the moment it first appears on the screen.

Natasha Lyonne is 'Poker Face.'
