Netflix Having been a treasure trove of television series for a long time, but with so much content, it can be difficult to choose your next favorite buckles. That’s why every month, the Watch with us The team recommends a dear show that you should not skip. This June, I’m sharing a personal story about why this show strikes me so hard.
When the pandemic first closed everything down in March 2020, I was staying at home with my parents. With my dad spiking Covid-19 fever from 103 and little information yet available about the virus, my mother and I were one piece of bad news away from a panic attack. Hoping to relax, we turned to Netflix and hit play on One day at a time.
Of one’s first notes of the theme song, sung by Gloria estefanWe knew we were in for something great. The funny comedy – restarting the 1975 series of the same name – gets our nightly ritual. No matter what stressors the day had come, we would end with a chapter – and every time we danced around the living room to the theme song. We sang, we danced and we laughed so hard that we couldn’t help but feel better.
But the theme song is not the only thing to love about One day at a time. This is why you should make it binge drinking in Netflix in June.

The original One day at a timeDeveloped by a legendary sitcom producer Norman Learrelating to a recently divorced mother picking up two teenage girls – a very progressive concept for her time. The reboot builds on that idea, focusing around the Cuban American family and re -drawing the single mother as Penelope Alvarez (Justina Machado), Former army -villager and nurse raising children with her own cocky mother, Lydia (The Incomparable Rita Moreno).
This month’s additions to the Sitcom Netflix list include a fan’s favorite love story starring Kristen Bell (meaning she is now staring in two of the sitting comedy we recommend) and a fully kidnapped comedy of Sex and the City Creator Darren Star. Alvarez’s family addresses timely issues such as sexuality (the eldest child Elena, played by Isabella Gomez, Lesbiad), PTSD (Penelope tests nightmares after her time in Afghanistan and takes antidepressants), guns and more. Although the series sometimes deviates to preaching territory, it is always insightful and toned in its portrayal of complex issues.
Rita Moreno is simply great

Like Lydia, Rita Moreno stops the show every time she is on screen. That may be because she literally makes a prestigious entrance whenever she walks into a room, but that is also because she is such a truly likeable character.
The actress who has won an egot is funny in the comedic and emotional moments in the serious ones. She is a funny presence and is a fully realized character with hopes, dreams and foibles. She is the grandmother we all deserve.
Rita Moreno is the first Latina to secure egot status after winning trophies at the Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards, Oscars and Tony Awards throughout her career. It’s a perfect combination of old and new

A multi-camera-series sitting comedy filmed on an audio stage in front of a live-based studio audience has gone from the television, but they were once one of the most popular genres on television broadcast. Friends. Cheese. The jeffersons And so much more brought heart and humor to our lives with simple but enjoyable stories – the true “situation comedies” – which would be resolved in about 23 minutes (excluding ads).
One day at a time Feels like a call back to a simpler life, but its use of modern views and issues is a perfect way to elevate the multi-phase genre. The comedy depends on one witty lining, slapstick physical comedy and scandalous misunderstanding, and it is so easy to sit back and laugh at the antics of the excellent cast. But the show only feels old-fashioned in the flatest sense. It’s an immediate classic that will feel like you’ve been watching it forever.
What does summer mean to you? For some, it means steam seasonal romance or opportunity to travel elsewhere. For others, watching some great shows on Netflix is just another season. One day at a time has a whopping rating 99 percent onwards Rotten tomatoes. He is a generally beloved and critical acclaim, yet he only runs for three seasons on Netflix. (The fourth season ran on pop television and unfortunately it was cut short by the pandemic Covid-19.) We can all agree that the show had gone too soon, but at least it did not decline in quality as many long-lasting sitting comedies do over time!
Basically, to see One day at a time is to love him – but not enough people know the joy of life with the Gang Alvarez. In June, watch seasons 1-3 of One day at a time on Netflix. (The fourth season 7 episode is not streaming anywhere at the moment but you can buy it on Apple TV+ If you are true devotion.)
