Watching TV can go a little slow in the summer, especially for drama lovers – many networks and streamers do not launch their big, prestigious shows until falling.
That makes August a perfect time to catch up on series you may have lost – like Eleven stationA great play that some of us are on the Watch with us The team jumped when it ended in 2021. (The show is about pandemic, and at the time, he hit a little close to home.)
But we highly recommend watching this limited series Hbo max In August 2025 – here’s why.
Himesh Patel and Matilda Lawler at the eleven station
HboEleven station Occur in two timelines-starts a flu-like pandemic and 20 years later. The virus is similar to Covid-19, causing cold and flu symptoms and spreading quickly-but different from what we all tested, there is no light stress. By the time the narrative rises 20 years later, the only people living are those with natural immunity.
The show, based on the 2014 novel by Emily St. John MandelIt seems eerie predicting elements of Covid-19. While real -world losses are destructive, Eleven station imagine how much worse it might have been-without turning to zombie-virus plays like The last of us. It’s realistic, not Sci-Fi-a that’s what makes it so scary. Watching it may make you reflect differently on how society came through the pandemic.
Mackenzie Davis is ‘Station Eleven’
HboThe main character, Kirsten Raymonde (Mackenzie Davis), a child’s actress appears in a production of King Lear On the first day of the pandemic alongside the famous actor Arthur Leander (Have a bernal garcía). Leander dies from a heart attack on stage – ironically unrelated to the virus spreading from control that night. The combination of these two events changes the life of Kirsten forever. (The young version of Kirsten is played by Matilda’s handler.) Twenty years later, she is part of a theater crew called the touring symphony, performing Shakespeare in towns across the large lakes region. How survivors – and those born after the pandemic – respond to these performances shows how vital stories are.
Another story also binds to the characters: a graphic novel called Eleven stationDonated to Kirsten by Arthur before he died. Her knowledge of him and her creators become key to her survival.

Eleven station Seamlessly treats flashbacks and jumps, moving between the start of the pandemic, the twenty-one timeline, and a glimpse of life before the cases. This additional joint makes the stories more effective – especially for Jeevan (Himesh Patelnominated for Emmy for his performance), an audience member at King Lear Who finishes taking care of young kirsten when the world collapses separately.
The back -lets also deepen Miranda Carroll Arcs (Danielle deodderone of our favorite unprecedented actresses), Arthur’s first wife, and Elizabeth (Caitlin Fitzgerald), his second. These relationships could easily get lost in the jumps of time, but strong performances and sharp production design keep the story clear. With its equally strong story lines span decades, Eleven station Showing how past, present and future are linked – and how our own stories can change the world.
