Ange Postecoglou quickly moved away from comparisons with Brian Clauch, but pledged to gain trophies in the nottingham forest.
Cloud directed Forest to the league title in 1978 and supported it with two European Cup hits in 1979 and 1980 to cease its state as one of the major managers that has ever produced the United Kingdom.
All of Forest’s new managers is asked about Clauch and Postecoglou hurried to pay tribute to the former Sunderland and England striker who died in 2004.
He said, “There will never be a comparison between me and Brian Clauch. It is an autonomous legend and a figure with whom he cannot compare. I am a match student. He did it in a football club where no one expects this thing. It means that it is different.”
Postecoglou was a ribbon while in Tottenham to say that “he always wins trophies in his second season”, although he had the last laugh when he drove Spurs to the Europa League title shortly before he was looted.
Asked what his ambitions were on the field of the city, he said: “I have said that I want to win trophies and this is what I have done all my career and this is what I will do here. All clubs want to be successful, but what I have seen in recent years, these ambitions are supported by actions.
“ I don’t see it as a point to prove. I don’t have to show anything to anyone. Let your actions speak for themselves and understand the responsibility you have. You have to provide joy to the followers, which is why there are football clubs. They are the useful life of this game. This is all that I care about. I will win things here and people will still have doubts about me.
“I just want to continue doing what I have to do because it brings joy to people and allows me to live my dreams.”
Postecoglou confirmed that there would be no immediate change to his philosophy attacking everything But he defended his tactics after widespread criticism of his merits, as Spurs ended 17th at the Premier League last season.
“If we look at the first year in Spurs, we end up fifth,” he added. “Fifth place would have won a place in the Champions League any other year. And we were really aggressive with our football. People say they don’t work. But ending fifth after taking control of a team, and we had only lost a generational talent in Harry Kane. My last year was a different year and we had to adjust how to do things and bought the success of the United States.
“I want my team to play football and be exciting, it makes people talk. From my perspective I will always try to do things a little different.”
Forest finished seventh under the predecessor Nuno Espírito Santo Santo postcoglou last season and will play in the Europa League this term.
And the Australian insists that this is an exciting time to be fond of the forest.
He said, “Hopefully they are behind the team and are excited about the possibilities of what we can achieve. The club returns to Europe and this is really an incentive to create something special. The players have been great. They know they have the responsibility to do for this football club.
“Each club where I have been, I would like to think that it would be welcomed because I left a brand. This needs time. One thing that fans will know with me is that if I plan to do something, I will see.”
