Arne Slot said he was satisfied with what he saw his Liverpool players, as the Reds won the winners 1-0 on Everton to extend the lead at the top of the Premier League at 12 points.
Diogo Jota struck shortly after half the time against a typically rauous Anfield crowd to give victory with Slot and end the nine unbeaten toffees games.
Beto had a goal from the first half discarded out of play, while David Moyes’s team was fortunate enough to finish the game with eleven players after James Tarkowski’s crushing in Alexis Mac Alister.
The result extends the undefeated Premier League of Liverpool to 26 games and transfers them to 13 points of the title with eight games remaining. And slot was pleased by his side.
“I liked what we did much more than in the distance game, where we scored two goals (in a 2-2 draw), but we almost did not create anything,” said Slot.
“Today we were almost constantly in their final third, but it is still difficult to mark due to the number of players who carry around their 18 -gardens box and in the way they can defend.
“We faced a team that did not miss for nine games in a row. So we knew it, apart from the fact that it was the Merseyside derby, we faced a very strong team, especially defensively.”
He also asked the slot about his Tarkowski challenge, but Liverpool’s chief had no mood in the debate.
“So many people thought of it and even people who are not in favor of Liverpool,” said Slot.
“They were so clear in their comments that it is not necessary to tell me anything else.
“It was so clear that he didn’t need to comment.”
