Donald Trump said he was disappointed but not made with Vladimir Putin, in an exclusive phone with the BBC.
The US president was pressed whether he trusted the Russian leader and replied, “I almost don’t trust.”
Trump acted a few hours after he announced plans to send weapons to Ukraine and warned about serious tariffs for Russia if there was no ceasefire transaction in 50 days.
In a wide interview from the Oval Cabinet, the President also supported NATO, calling it outdated, and confirmed his support for the general principle of defense.
The president called on the phone, which lasted 20 minutes, before the BBC after talking about a potential interview to mark one year after trying his life at the company’s stock, Pennsylvania.
Asked if his attempt changed, Trump said he liked to think about it as little as possible.
“I don’t like to think or changed it,” Trump said. Rejoice, he added, “can change life.”
Just meeting with NATO chief Mark Rute in the White House, the president conducted a considerable part of the interview, expanding his frustration with the Russian leader.
Trump said he thought the deal was on cards with Russia four times.
When asked by the BBC, he was with Putin, the president replied, “I am disappointed in it, but I didn’t finish with him. But I’m disappointed in it.”
Pressing how Trump will force Putin to “stop the bloodshed” by the US president said, “We work, Gary.”
“We will have a big conversation. I will say,” That’s good, I think we are close to it, “and then he will knock down the building in Kiev.”
The conversation moved to NATO, which Trump previously criticized as “outdated”.
Asked if he thinks it is all that’s the case, he replied, “No.
He said he still believed in collective defense, because it meant that smaller countries could defend themselves against the big ones.
President Trump was also asked about the UK’s future in the world and said he believed it is “a great place – you know what I own property there.”
He spoke about how an unprecedented second state visit to the UK is looking forward in September.
What he wanted to achieve during the visit, Trump said, “Well, go and respect King Charles because he’s a great gentleman.”
