Hurzeler says Brighton fans can “dream” of Wembley after a great victory in Newcastle

Brighton’s head, Fabian Hurzeler, says that fans on the southern coast may dream of making an appearance in Wembley at the FA CUP.

The Seagulls surpassed Newcastle in St James Park to reserve their place in the quarterfinals, courtesy of a Danny Welbecck strike.

It was a heavy thing, with Tariq Lamptey and Anthony Gordon sent.

But it was Brighton who had the impetus to follow and win, that is, they are now in a game of Wembley.

Speaking after the game, he said, “It was a very emotional game. Many ups and downs. The key was that we stayed together, we were calm, we tried to find solutions.

“They had a great opportunity to hit the post, but then I thought we were controlling the game. The penalty was not out of place. We played with a lot of courage, we had little opportunities and, after we acknowledged that we showed a bright reaction.

“We focused on our solutions, keeping our clams. In the second half we were very dominant. We suffered a little when we received the red card, but it was generally a great performance.

“We can only win something if we stay together and in this we have to focus. There is not much impulse in football, but we have to understand why it is at this time. It is important to keep on the ground and continue to do the basic things.

“They (fans) can dream and we can work.”

The scorer Welbeck won the winner when Brighton won Newcastle at the Premier League earlier this season.

And his skillful chip to win the game was a reminiscence of his highest years, but the veteran striker was simply happy to win the winner.

He added: “It’s good to come here in St James Park, such a special atmosphere. The fans made an amazing, fantastic atmosphere to get the winner again.

“I feel like we’ve played well. We know when we set ourselves in Newcastle that it will be an intense game. They have some dangerous players with great capacity, and we have to coincide with this, and we did it today and we go out.

“When you are on the bench you have to analyze the game and see where you can make a difference and today it is what we have done. You see that Joao Pedro in the end struggled to run. He gave so much and I think this is what the winner gave us. “”
