The Hungary Parliament supported a number of amendments to the Constitution that will restrict the rights of LGBTC+ people and double citizens.
The amendments, which, according to the data, are aimed at protecting the physical and moral development of children, it will be banned by public meetings LGBTQ+.
Hundreds gathered outside the parliament to protest against this step, which human rights activists called “the key moment in the transition of Hungary to non -liberal government.”
Prime Minister Victor Orban, whose party Fidesz voted through the bill, promised in March that the “Easter cleaning” of his critics.
Voting passed with 140 members who voted and 21 against.
The amendments will also allow the government to temporarily suspend the citizenship of any Hungarian dual citizens who are considered a threat to the country’s security or sovereignty.
Fidesz suggested that this step is aimed at those who finance “fictitious non-governmental organizations, bought politicians and so-called independent media” from abroad-something forced him to be, partly aimed at the orientation of Hungarian-American well-being George Soros, who Orban often criticized.
Amendments Follow the law adopted last month that banned LGBTQ+ Pride march on the intended grounds they hurt the children.
At the time, Orban praised the law, saying: “We will not allow the ideology of the danger of our children.”
Speaking to the BBC, opposition MP David Bedo said: “It is not only an honor but also about any meeting organized by the opposition.”
“This is only the first step they take in this summer campaign, and we will see many more laws adopted and adopted in parliament, which is very against any democracy or any law,” he added.
Government spokesman Zoltan Kovach wrote on X that those who considered the changes as a “constitutional guarantee in relation to the ideological influences that they claim threaten the well-being of children, especially in the context of such events as pride.”
Some changes are viewed in Hungary as an attempt to redo the country’s identity along Christian-conservative lines.
Victor Orban’s party has been posting since 2010. But polls believe that Tisza’s new right -wing Central Party is among the national level before the parliamentary elections next year.
A ticha who wants a more constructive relationship with the EU, raised popular after Peter Madyar, a one -time Fids politician, crashed with the ruling party in February 2024 that he said he was a bad run by Hungary.
The government hopes to force Peter Magic to benefit the pride – and thus alienates its more conservative supporters. He still refused to take the bait.
