Hundreds of cars stayed with flat tires after a truck traveling on one of the most busy highways in Australia, poured 750 kg (1653 pounds) of sharp metal fragments on the road.
The truck drove 30 km (18 miles) before the scale was discovered, the authorities said.
The incident made the city connected with the city on Friday, and the garbage damaged the tires at least 300 cars.
Some emergency vehicles were also ground, New Southern Wales said.
“The truck lost the scraps of scraps around 5am this morning, causing a wide debris,” the fire service said.
The State Police of the new South Wales said the incident occurred on the Pacific M1 near Ocean near Orymba, north of Sydney. The section of the freeway opened again on Friday after lunch, after closing at 10 hours.
NJ Ashton, a company that owns a truck, apologized and said it helps with cleaning.
Authorities use magnets to attract metal.
“This is not only a case when they went out on the road or guys and girls with brooms. We use some magnetic devices. We remove the built -in metal into the highway itself. It takes a long time,” – said at a press conference.
M1 is a cargo and passenger route coming north of Sydney.
State Road Minister Jenny Eichisan said the situation was “unprecedented”.
“We work with all the government’s resources and the private sector to clean up,” she said.
“It’s like trying to raise the highway. It’s very difficult.”
A truck driver, a 46-year-old man, collaborated with requests, police said.
“We take full responsibility for what happened, and we are very sorry for any damage and violations that have been done,” New Jershi said in a statement on his site.
“We still don’t fully understand how it happened.”
Mr. Collins said the truck drove more than 30 km (18.64 miles), and the garbage drops from the back of the car before the spill was discovered.
