Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe greeted Dan Burn’s game as “Colossus” and stated that his side had broken a new ground with his 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the EFL Cup final.
The Magpies ended their 70 -year -old wait for a major domestic trophy, and 56 years old waited for a major trophy of any kind, as a Burn’s head and an excellent Alexander Isak’s nearby rank strike, won a well -deserved victory in Wembley, despite a stoppage of Federico Chies who fell on the lead and was fattening.
Burn, convened in the first -time staff of England at the age of 32, was highlighted when baking Liverpool’s attack with Fabian Schar, and Howe rushed to praise the local hero while his side celebrated his names in Newcastle’s folklore.
“I’m really emotional and I’ve been all day, unlike me,” Howe told Sky Sports. “We knew what was at stake today for all our fans, we wanted to make them proud and win the trophy.
“I am so satisfied with the result and the performance: we deserved to win today.

“It was hard when Liverpool scored. He was thinking of extra time, he always made it difficult for us to never be 2-0.”
“We have been aware of the story and we wanted to make the club proud. We wanted to score, we wanted to act and we wanted to win.
“We are breaking a new ground, I thought we were magnificent today.

“We couldn’t believe that Dan Burn scored, he didn’t train like this! He was a Colossus for us.”
Newcastle had suffered a 2-0 defeat against Liverpool on February 26 at the Premier League. Asked about that game, Howe had admitted that he had deliberately refused to show his cards in a contest where his team was much less ambitious.
Howe finally showed that he had the perfect play plan, his most direct style and the energy on his side and his pressure helping to drown the most feared attack on English football.
“Both teams were quite direct and we treated it very well,” added Howe.
“No one wanted to make a mistake -there was no good football, but we were effective in both boxes.
“We did not want to show our hands when we played them a few weeks ago, we still wanted to win that game we did differently.”
But Howe did not talk about talking about his legacy and where Newcastle could go from here, with the Magpies still hunting for the champions league classification through the Premier League.
“I want to enjoy -first,” Howe said. “I’m always tomorrow, but I will leave coaching books for a few days.”
