The Globes have traditionally had great taste in hosts, regularly inviting snarky individuals who would make sharp jokes about A-list guests.
They’re continuing that pattern this year with American Comics Nikki Glaser, who gave a rousing performance at The Roast of Tom Brady last summer.
Glazer said she was “thrilled” to host the Globes, adding that she was looking forward to having a “front row seat” to “one of my favorite nights on television.”
“This is one of the few times that show business not only allows, but actually encourages, lovingly mocking itself (at least I hope so). (God, I hope so),” she said in a statement.
“Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from past opening monologues at the Golden Globe Awards, when Tina (Fey), Amy (Poehler) or Ricky (Gervais) said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately wanted to hear.
“I’m just hoping to carry on this time-honored tradition (which may also result in my being undone). It really is a dream job.”
