The upcoming On TikTokset for January 19, 2025, it’s getting more and more imminent.
The 6th of DecemberThe US Court of Appeals has upheld a law requiring ByteDance, the Chinese company that owns TikTok, to divest the app or face a national ban. This decision highlights growing concerns about the app’s ties to China and potential national security risks. And we might be fine without the massively popular video streaming app for the next few weeks.
If you are a TikTok user, especially a creator, you are probably worried about many things. Will TikTok really disappear in January? Are there any similar apps that you can switch to? Will all your TikTok videos be deleted?
If you are worried about the latter, you should think about saving all the videos you have ever published on TikTok. Or else they could be lost to the ether. Good thing it’s easy to do.

On your Apple or Android device, open the TikTok app and tap Profile at the bottom right of the navigation bar. Now go to any video you’ve posted, press the three-dot menu button in the bottom right, and tap Save the video button This will download the video to your phone’s video library.
Your video will be saved to your camera roll without any TikTok watermark.
If you have drafts that you want to save, the process is similar, but not exactly the same. Go into your drafts, tap a video and then click save on the menu to the right of the editor.
Once it’s out, make sure you keep your draft saved, otherwise it might get deleted.
Unfortunately, there is no way to do this for every video at once, so it could become a burden if you have dozens, or even hundreds, of videos posted on TikTok.
If TikTok is really going away, maybe it is time to look for some alternative. Bluesky is also a great dealif you haven’t already heard.
