Sydney Sweeney had made headlines last year when he shared pictures of his upcoming set Christy Martin Biopic, and now she reveals exactly what she did to transform the role.
“I loved it,” Sweeney, 27, have said W journal In a cover story published on Monday, June 9, noting that she won more than 30 lbs to play Martin, now at 56. “I came aboard the ship to play Christy, and I got about three and a half months of training. I started to eat. “
Sweeney added that her “completely different body” after all worked out. “I didn’t fit in any of my clothes. I’m usually size 23 in jeans, and I was wearing size 27. My borch got bigger. And my hut went huge. It was crazy! I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’
Despite all those changes, Sweeney was still a fan of her new body. “It was amazing,” he told the outlet. “I was so strong, like a strong crazy.”

Eddy chenAfter filming wrapped on the Martin project which has not yet been titled, Sweeney had only seven weeks to drop the pressure for her next project. Director David threw him by seeing his main woman in a new light, partly because he never did see her in Euphor.
“I was amazed by the change in her appearance,” she told W. “I had only seen as a dear, hard moppet with late-80s hair, ready to box. Sydney was happiest when she was in the ring punching and punching. It was a shock to see her so magical.”

The film will follow the life of Martin’s journey to become one of America’s most successful female boxers. She started her career in 1989 after later meeting her manager and husband, James Martin. He went on to win the World Boxing Female Welter weight title in 2009 and continued to box until 2012.

He was arrested and charged with attempted murder of a first degree and aggravated a battery with a deadly weapon. Two years later, James was convicted of attempted murder of second degree. It is currently a 25 year prison sentence.
Christy was the first female boxer elected to the Nevada Boxing Fame Gallery in 2016. It was also elected to an international boxing immortal gallery in 2020, first year women were included on the ballot.

“Sydney trained his barrel to play the part,” he told W. “Sydney’s beauty is for her to turn up to work every day with her tail emptying, ready to go. No matter how difficult it was, it was like a ray of sunshine.”
