The Mumbai (MI) Indians suffered a bad loss for Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Tuesday (May 6). Now it gives them a scare in terms of qualification for the playoffs, as they will have to bring their best to the rest of their games.
The Mumbai (MI) Indians faced a bad loss of three wicket against Gujarat Titans. The 56th Premier League India (IPL) 2025 match between the teams took place at the Wankhed stadium in Mumbai, where an exciting meeting was witnessed between the two most important teams in the tournament.

The Jacks-Yadav duo added 71 wickets, as the Mumbai Indians were at the top. However, they later faced a terrible collapse, as Gujarat Titanas bowls were above and reduced to 123 by seven of 97 by two.
Corbin Bosch (27) Sometimes hit the end that they pushed the Mumbai Indians up to a total of 155 by eight. For Gujarat Titans, Sai Kishore was the selection of bowls while taking two doctors.
Pursuing the goal, Gujarat Titans lost Sai Sudharsan soon for only five runs. But after that, Shubman Gill (43) and Jos Buttler (30) became brilliantly beat with the rain in the corner vault. They played perfectly the situation and added 72 runs for the second wick.
Sherfane Rutherford (28) also played a vital hand that kept Gujarat titans ahead of the game. However, the breaking of the rain changed things for Mumbai Indians, as Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult experienced campaigns took their team to the game with fast doctors.
Then there was another rain and the game was reduced to 19 points, with the Gujarat titans who needed 15 runs. Rahul Tewatia (11*) hit a limit on the first ball before Gerald Coetzee (12) reached six in the third installment. The game went down to the last and it was Gujarat who pursued the goal with three doctors.
After the game against the Titans of Gujarat, the Mumbai Indians lost the fifth game of the season. They now have 7 wins from the 12 games with 14 points under the belt. However, in order to classify now for the playoffs, they must carry their best.
Given that a team needs 16 points to qualify, Mumbai Indians have to win one of their two games in the tournament. Because they have a healthy NRR, they could classify their next game, as they will take them to 16 points. If they win both games, they will surely qualify and will end up in the top 2.
However, if they lose the two games, things could be difficult for them, as they could be lost in a place in the playoffs. They may have an external opportunity, but it all depends on the NRR and the results of other games.
Mumbai Indians will be seen in action when the kings of Punjab take on the stadium of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in Dharamsala on Sunday, May 11). After that, they will return home for their last league game against Delhi Capitals on Thursday, May 16.
