In Buffy The Vampire SlayerOur titular hero and her team of plucky of allies have dear nickname: the Scooby gang. In the universe, Xander gave a nickname to their first group of friends who would follow them through the end of the series. He did so in the season 2 episode “What is my line? Part one, ”but what most fans do not realize is that Joss Whedon and the show’s producers have been building towards this nickname through a constant stream of Easter eggs earlier in the show.

Buffy Scooby Gang Clues

Exactly what kinds of early Puff Easter eggs suggested that our hero and her crew would be called a Scooby gang? In the Season 1 episode “Never Kill and Boy on the first date,” we see that Willow is rocking a Scooby-doo Lunch box. This sets out the friendly geek as a fan of the classic cartoon, probably why she is wearing a Scooby-Doo t-shirt in the season 1 episode of “Out of Mind, Out of Sight,” and Season 2 episode “School Hard.”

And Willow is not the only member of the Scooby gang to wear some official girl from Hanna Barbera’s cartoon. Xander also wears a Scooby-Doo shirt in the season 2 episode of “When she was bad” and a season 1 episode “Out of Mind, Out of Sight.” That final chapter also contains a memorable moment when Xander simulates the Scooby Shaggy character with the line, “Can you say, ‘Gulp?'”

That is, Xander’s love for everything Scooby was proven very early in the series. Unsurprisingly, therefore, he is the Buffy character who first gives the nickname “The Scooby Gang” to his group of friends in “What is my line? Part one. ”Although it was easy to lose, the show spent about a season and a half giving us very direct references to Scooby and his friends before Xander officially dropped their catchy group name.

Once Buffy and his friends of this shameless nickname had the show’s writers never wasted the opportunity to talk about the Scooby gang by name in various chapters. Interestingly, some characters put variations on the name … for example, Xander and Faith used the term preferred by fans “Scooby Gang.” However, Willow is strange using the term “Scooby Corps” in the “The I In Team,” episode and Spike is using the term “Scooby Club” in “Girl this year.”

Over Puff Fans who loved the term “Scooby Gang,” things went full of meta in 2002. That’s the year that led Puff actor Sarah Michelle Gellar appeared as daphne in the acting Scooby-doo Film, a role she re -drawn in her sequence in 2004. Just like that, a killer who went to a nickname borrowed from a cartoon ended with that cartoon alive as we had never seen it before.

There you have, folks: the Puff The crew got the nickname Scooby gang was just a sudden creative decision by Joss Whedon or his stand-up in the universe, Xander. Instead, the nickname was the culmination of many pop culture directions to the favorite members of everyone from Mystery, Inc. and while Buffy The Vampire Slayer is a show where the monsters are very real, characters like the Chief Snyder and the Mayor of Wilkins soon way Too much to hide.
