Hoda Kotb’s Biggest Successes and Biggest Downs Over the Years

Hoda Kotb has shared many of life’s milestones — both triumphant and difficult — with television audiences for years.

Kotb is notable for missing several chapters of the Today show in early 2023. Her co-hosts Craig Melvin a Sheinelle Jones announced in March that her absence was due to a “family health issue,” which Kotb later revealed was her youngest daughter, Hope.

“(Hope) was in the ICU for a few days and in the hospital for a little over a week,” Kotb shared during March 2023 episode oh Today. “I’m so grateful she’s home. … I was waiting for that day to come. And we’re watching her closely. I’m so happy.”

Kotb, who departed Today in January 2025, Hope and her eldest daughter, Haley, teamed up with her ex-fiancé, Joel SchiffmanThey call it quits after eight years together in January 2022. At the time of Hope’s health scare, a source exclusively said Us Weekly that Schiffman “has been by their side.”

The insider added: “Hoda has dropped everything and focused on being there for her youngest – by her hospital bed – and taking care of anything she might need. Hope is better now and recovering at home.”
