Hercules wrote his name in the legend of Fluminense, as his second half won a 2-1 victory over Hilal and reserved his place in the semifinals of the Club World Cup.
After stunning Inter Milan to reach the last eight, Fluminense was again subdogs in Orlando against Simone Inzghi’s side.
However, they took the lead in the 40th minute through the impressive bending effort of Matheus Martinelli.
Al-Hilal, after seeing a criminal prize annulled after a VAR review, scored the fourth goal of Marcos Leonardo’s tournament in the tournament six minutes in the second half.
However, Fluminense did not refuse, and it was Hercules who established an entertaining contest when Martinelli’s replacement went to the penalty area and fired on the lower left corner 20 minutes from the end of the normal time.
There were emotional scenes before the starting shot, as the silence of the minute was celebrated for the Liverpool striker, Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, after they were tragically killed in a car accident on Thursday. Jota Portugal’s teammates, Joao Cancelo and Ruben Neves, ripped when the silence was observed.
The first half had been the low key until he broke out in his life with the wonderful workshop of Martinelli, who saw him rotate as he collected the Facundo Bernal pass and folded a sublime strike in the upper right corner.
The Hilal was denied an equalizer when goalkeeper Fabio de Fluminense, 44, stretched every tender to immerse himself and divert the powerful head of Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Saudi side seemed to have been awarded with a controversial punch after Danny Makkiele pointed to the place after a meeting between Samuel Xavier and Leonardo in a free throw in stoppage.
But the replacements showed that Xavier had been looking at the ball for the whole time when the ball entered the box and the contact between the two had been incidental.
Al-Hilal was furious when Makkiele noted that he had annulled his original decision, but there was a delight shortly after the restart when Leonardo stabbed home after Koulibaly’s head was blocked.
A minute later, the German cano was sent by a defensive error to the other end, but Bono avoided the ordinary danger of his goal to drown -when the striker tried to round off the goalkeeper in Morocco.
Moteb at Harbi affected a presentable opportunity to complete the change for Hilal and this was expensive as Hercules punished his profile.
Hercules, after replacing the reserved in Martinelli after half the time, continued his career in the box after his initial path to the porti was blocked, and stuck in the head of Xavier from an half -authorization of Al Hilal, excellently before he could beyond Bono.
Bono produced heroics to maintain a Xavier volley and deny Fluminense a third, and in Hilal he never threatened to find a second equalizer, as the Brazilian side assured that his memorable career will continue to the last four.
