Promoter Eddie Hearn is not worried about whether the WBC light champion’s hands, Shakur Stevenson, will remain under the endless pressure that puts the relentless punching William Zepeda on July 12 in Queens, New York.
Hearn believes that Stevenson (23-0, 11 kos) will fight for pain if the glass hands break against Zepeda (33-0, 27 kos) and will continue to hit him until a eliminated one.
Shakur has won only two fighters since he moved to 135, Josh Padley and Shuichiro Yoshino. These fighters resembled lower -level combatants. It is understandable why Stevenson’s promoters chose them about the dangerous contestants.
“Due to the style, I think he will land many times to William Zepeda. He has had a control and his hands are fine. But in a fight where you are often landing against an aggressive fighter ((hand injury problems may occur),” said Eddie Hearn to Ring Magazine On the possibility of Shakur Stevenson’s fragile hands melt against William Zepeda.
What does Hearn talk about? Shakur is not going to land many punches “in Zepeda, because this would like to be in his pocket. Physically he cannot do it against a volume punch like Zepeda, which will break it in the body.
Although Shakur’s glass hands are kept together, it will be worn out by non -stop shots, especially on the head and body. He has stopped the toughest fighters than Stevenson, and will do the same if he tries to fuck many times during the fight.
What we are going to see in this struggle is Shakur running, landing here and then, but keeping in motion as the fans left him from the Loius Armstrong Stadium. I will be here to say, “I told you.” It’s too late to change your style of struggle.
If Stevenson would change his focus to fight, becoming a pocket fighter, he would have done so, when he was abandoned from the T-Mobile Arena in his fight against the Santos. He had the perfect adversaries to experiment with a new style in his last two attacks on the Padley and Harutyunyan light. These boys had no pop in their punches and we were well avoided before they were selected as Stevenson’s opponents.
Directive of Alralhikh: No “Tom and Jerry”
Shakur has been a runner since his amateur days, and he cannot change his basic nature to become a pocket fighter. He forecasts that he will ignore the Turki Alralikh directive of any “Tom and Jerry” struggle, will challenge this rule by moving non-stop, making Zepeda pursuing him as a cat chasing a mouse and trying to win a decision in a struggle as amateurs.
“I am sure your hands will be hit (injured) in this struggle. The only thing you can’t do is show a sign. You just have to find a path. We don’t see it as a problem. In Shakur’s mind, it is necessary to be needed. It is going to land a lot of leather in Zepeda. You can force this stop against a fantastic fighter, “said Hearn.
Stevenson vs. Zepeda: Low punching out?
We will see a low punch outlet in the 1910’s for Shakur against Zepeda. What we saw of William Scull against Canelo Alvarez last May will be similar to what Stevenson will perform against Zepeda.
It was a mistake for Turki to put Stevenson-Zepeda in Co-Funda slot. A better struggle is the party among lightweight lightweight artists, David Morrell and Imam Khataev. This is by far the best struggle of the entire card, including the main event.
