Downton Abbey star Harry Paton had opens about what it was like to work with the recent Maggie Smith.
“She was such a big part of the show,” Haden-Paton, 44, was told only Weekly US On Tuesday, September 8, before the premiere of his new film, Downton Abbey: The prestigious ending.
“As soon as we sat around the table, people were like, ‘Should we text Maggie? Should we send it a picture? It’s just everywhere,” he continued. “And physically, a portrait of her watched us, making us behaved. She was scary as hell, but she had an actress heart. If you engaged her as an actor, that’s when she lit.”
The dear actress and Harry Potter A star died on September 27, 2024. She was 89.
“She died peacefully in hospital early this morning, Friday 27th September. As a very private person, she was with friends and family at the end. She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are ruined by the loss of their unusual mother and mother,” her surviving sons, Chris Larkin and Toby StephensHe said in a statement to the BBC at the time, confirming the death of their mother. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their tireless care and kindness during its last days.”

“He was a little more relaxed,” he explained. “And he moved faster.”

“Her presence is felt all the way through it,” explained Doyle, 65, on Tuesday. “She’s actually seen in (the movie), which is lovely. We were well aware when we were doing she wasn’t around, and that was very poignant.”
He added, “We tried our best to – you can’t fill the gap it leaves, so you’re trying your best to do the best work you can. And I think that’s what he would expect.”
Hadden-Paton, Doyle can clearly remember what it was like to work with and alongside Smith on the TV series.
“I don’t know how she made any prizes or oscars she had won-she had won many things-but she didn’t carry it with her,” she said about Smith, who won two Oscars, more than 100 awards and were three-fourths of the way towards winning a Stylish egot before she died.
“She was so hard working with anyone else and qualified himself in the way any professional would be,” he added. “That’s what she expected from everyone else. She wanted to be part of the company she loved. She loved the girls, and just enjoyed being an actor.”
