Harbhajan Singh warns that KKR coaches could ruin the team’s campaign

Former Indian Cricter Harbhajan Singh made an impressive observation on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) technical staff. Harbhajan said that main coach Chandrakant Pandit and mentor Dwayne Bravo have two different personalities and lifestyles, adding that one wakes up at 5 am, while the other goes to sleep at 6 am.

The Knight Riders appointed Dwayne Bravo as a mentor after Gautam Gambhir became the main coach of the Indian team. Previously, Bravo had worked as a bowel coach for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Bravo is known for his relaxed attitude of the Caribbean, while Pandit is known for his strict discipline.

Speaking to Espn Cricinfo, Harbhajan Singh humorously pointed to the difference between Chandrakant Pandit and Dwayne Bravo. Singh emphasized that contrasting personalities within the technical staff of the franchise could significantly affect the performance of the team at IPL 2025.

“They are two completely different personalities: one that wakes up at 5 in the morning, the other that goes to sleep at 6 am. So we will have to see how they combine and work too,” Harbhajan said in Espn Cricinfo.

Kolkata Knight’s riders underwent major changes in their support staff after Gambhir, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan TenChate’s departures after the IPL 2024 season.

Apart from the changes in the coach’s configuration, the champions defending also appointed veteran mixer Ajinkya Rahane as the new captain. The three times IPLs chose Venkatesh Iyer as vice-chic.

Rahane’s best opportunity is at number 3 – Harbhajan Singh

The Knight Riders have retained most of their battle core of the previous season despite launching Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana.

The franchise successfully reached Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Venkatesh Iyer and Angkrish Raghuvanshi at the auction. Key players such as Rinku Singh, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine were preserved.

Harbhajan Singh said it will be a challenge that direction determines the battle position of Ajinkya Rahane. He said that number 3 could be the only viable place for Rahane, as the team already has power beaters like Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh and Andre Russell in the middle and lower order.

Harbhajan Singh questioned Kolkata Knight Riders’ decision to appoint Ajinkya Rahane as captain. He stated that Rahane could be useful if Kkr loses an early wick, but beat after 12-13 on Mark would not adapt to his style of play.

“If Kkr has chosen Rahane only for captaincy, I think the job could have been done by someone else, such as Narine, Russell or Venky. If Kkr loses a early wick, I can see a role for Rahane. But if he has to beat after 12-13, this is not his strength.”
