“I like to play real people because true stories are alien than fiction,” quaid told Us. “You can’t do these things up. But I usually want to meet the real life person if he is alive because I wanted to play them from their point of view. But with this, I didn’t want to meet him.”

Quaid noted that a main focus portraying Jesperson Moore’s daughter was fine – played by Annaleigh Ashford – and her living experience. He was also not interested in visiting Jesperson at Oregon State Penitentiary.
“It’s in a prison hole, and that’s exactly what it should be,” added quaid. “I didn’t want to give him any kind of satisfaction or excitement. In this story he is actually from his daughter’s point of view. I think she knows him better than she knows herself.”
