Haney meets Turki Al-Shiekh: Possible fight of the season in Riyadh

Turki Al-Shiekh posted a photo of himself with Devin Haney and his father, Bill Haney, at their meeting today. Haney meets with Turki to discuss the possibility of him appearing on one of his Riyadh season cards.

Devin (31-0, 15 KOs) says he already received an offer from BLK Prime to fight in March, but wants to see what Turki has in store. It’s unclear what kind of money Haney expects to make in what will likely be an adjustment fight to help him regain his confidence after his loss to Ryan Garcia.

“Even playing field”

During an interview with the press today in London, Haney talked about wanting to “fight the best” and said he just wants a “level playing field.” He claims it will “clean up the sport”. Much of the focus of Devin’s interview was on him trying to whitewash his loss to Ryan, blaming it on being “tricked” by him.

Well, if Turki gives Haney an opponent with some pop in his punches for his next card of the Riyadh season, the Ryan Garcia rematch will go up in smoke and be as pointless as the Battle of the Losers Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua. to fight Ryan Garcia did a number on Haney, ticked him off last April and outlasted him for 12 rounds.

Everything will be fine if Turki offers Devin one can of tomato no power and just a few balls following his head. This type of Haney can beat, but anyone else would put him at risk of blowing up again.

“Just because I got cheated in a fight, that doesn’t mean I’m going to change my tune. I still feel the same. I still feel like I’m the best fighter in the world,” Devin Haney told the media Friday in London, trying to get up by spiking instead of artificially fighting. “I think on a level playing field, I can beat all those guys.

“I still have no news about my next opponent. We were looking at some guys, but His Excellency (Turki Al-Shiekh) has called me for a meeting with him. That’s why I’m here with him. we’ll see Hopefully, we can get something going.

“It is a possibility. BLK Prime has a chance for me in March. They offered me something, but now your excellency has summoned me to a meeting to fight. So we’ll see if we can work something out while I’m here,” Haney said.

Looking for an easy fight?

If Turki wants Haney to fight a live body on one of his cards in Riyadh, he will sink the rematch with Garcia into the mud. Haney will lose and his career will go up in smoke. Haney is not capable of beating top fighters at 135, 140 or 147.

You put him with the best fighters in any of those weight classes and he’s going to lose. I mean, real top fighters, not George Kambosos or Regis Prograis. I’m talking about quality fighters like Gervonta Davis, Jaron Ennis, Richardson Hitchins, Alberto Puello and Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela.

Devin is still trying to use Ryan’s positive test for trace levels of Ostarine as a reason for his loss last April, but the fans aren’t buying it. They saw that Haney was whipped, and they’re not buying Ostarine’s excuse.

He was hit with left hooks all night and the referee saved him in the seventh with his timely deduction of points from Garcia for hitting on the break. The points deduction had no prior notice to Ryan.
