Hamas says he “lost contact” with a group of fighters who conduct Israeli-American in captivity after the Israeli strike in their place.
In recent days, 21-year-old Edon soldier Alexander appeared in a video released by a group.
Israel asked him to release on the first day of the new 45-day offer to cease the fire laid out last week that was rejected by Hamas.
Hamas did not show when the contact was lost and did not give any evidence of their requirement. Israel regularly claims to avoid strikes where the hostages are considered.
“We report that they lost contact with the group that kept Soldier Edon Alexander after a direct strike on their location,” said the press secretary Abuida in the statement.
“We are still trying to get to them at this moment,” he added.
Of the 251 hostages taken during the 2023 Hamas attack, 59 remain in the enclave, 24 of which are believed to be alive.
Five hostages are believed to be US citizens, and Alexander was considered the only one who is still alive.
Later on Tuesday, Hamas also posted a video addressed to the other hostage families, warning that they would return to the coffins if Israel will continue their military offensive.
On Saturday, Hamas released a video of Alexander Live, in which he asks Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump to agree on his release.
Alexander was part of the Israeli proposal for a 45-day ceasefire, which provided for “the release of half hostages in the first week of the agreement,” Hamas official said. The official stated that the proposal called for the release of Alexander on the first day as a “gesture of kindness”.
In the two -month ceasefire mode, at the beginning of the year, in return, 33 Hamas hostages were released for the release of 1900 Palestinian prisoners, as well as assistance and goods that are part of the lane.
After the talks to the second stage unfolded, On March 18, Israel resumed its offensive.
Alexander, who was born in Tel -Aviv, but grew up in New Jersey, served in an elite infantry unit on the border with gas when he was captured by Hamas militants during the October 7 attack.
His father, Alyaksandr, asked Netanyahu interviewing Monday with US Outlet Newsnation, asking, “How do you plan to get hostages without stopping this war and without doing the second stage of this transaction?”
Hamas said he was ready to return all those who still kept captive in exchange for the full end of hostilities and full Israeli withdrawal.
On Tuesday, the group rejected Israel’s proposal for a new ceasefire.
A high Palestinian official told the BBC: “An Israeli proposal, transferred to the Egypt movement, clearly called for the disarmament of Hamas without any Israeli commitments to stop the war or get out of the gas. Hamas thus dismissed the proposal.”
Ever since Israel has restarted his offensive in Gaza, at least 1,630 people were killed – led to the total number of killed in 18 months of the war to 51,000, according to the latest figures of the Ministry of Health Hamas.
The war was caused by Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 and 251 hostage.
