The women of Arsenal claimed their second title of the Women’s Champions League with a victory by 1-0 on the headlines of Barcelona in Lisbon.
The Stina Blackstenius’ 74th minute strike was the decisive time in a determined defensive exhibition that denied Barcelona a third consecutive European crown.
From the first whistle, Barcelona sought to dominate the ball, with Aitana Bonmati pulling the ropes in the middle field and Ewa Pajor a constant aerial threat.
The Arsenal, however, kept his shape well and found a promise of early attack through Caitlin Foord and Chloe Kelly, although their final delivery often dropped them.
The first actual opportunity fell to Barcelona in the 31st minute, when Boundmati’s effort from outside the box forced Daphne Van Domselaar to save.
Minutes later, Arsenal thought they had broken the deadline when Irene Paredes turned the ball into their own net. However, a long VAR review discarded the offside target.

Barcelona left the break with a renewed intensity. Claudia Pina and Bonmati saw the efforts saved by Van Domselaar in quick succession, and the Spanish champions forced a flight of corners who maintained the defense of the Arsenal.
Jonas Eidevall’s replacements were crucial. Beth Mead and Stina Blackstenius left the bench just after the time and immediately offered a new impetus.
In the 74th minute, Mead fell perfectly through the ball on the Blackstenius path, which was fixed before lowering the bass tasting neck.
Barcelona advanced in search of an Igualador, with Caroline Hansen and Salma Paalluelo causing the flanks. Van Domselaar, however, was inspired, denying Bonmati and Pina again when the minutes were marked.
The arsenal rear remained high, absorbing the wave after a wave of pressure, and when the final whistle blowed after eight minutes of added time, they exploded at celebration.
