Olympic legend Greg Louganis Recently moved out of the United States – but not before separating with some very valuable hardware.
Louganis, winner of a five-time Olympic medal, went to social media on Friday, August 29, to announce that he had “auction three of my medals” forecasting a move to Panama.
“I needed the money,” wrote Louganis, 65 Via Facebook.
Louganis added, “If I had very control, I might not have been in that situation, but what is being done is done; live and learn.”
The Olympiad also revealed that he had sold his house, saying he was “very happy” with the new owners.
“I thanked and blessed the house to bring joy, love, peace, happiness, and a sense of safety to those who came into the house,” wrote Louganis.
Louganis said he was galvanized to move away from the United States and put a less emphasis on material things after he had “many friends” to lose their homes and property in the devastating wildfires of California this year.
“I know I choose to do this, but their resilience is an inspiration for me to start afresh, with an open heart and an open door,” explained Louganis. “Opening to possibilities. I realized I often shut myself, shut myself down, and play a little for the comfort of others.”
He added, “I do not believe that I have realized or praised myself for what I could achieve.”
During his diving career, Louganis admitted he felt like his trainer’s “creation”, Ron O’Brien.
“I was honored, proud, and wonderful that I had been to him,” said Louganis. “It was all fulfilled with love in core. Now I’m getting to find out who is Greg Louganis? Without the distraction and noise from the outside. At least this is my goal, and hey, I may not find that.”
He continued, “I think I might get it at times, in seconds, my goal is to live it! Discover, allow, and nurture that human spirit through the experiences of life. To be joyful in the moments, embrace the grief, the anger, and the laughter, and the laughter, and embrace it all, feel it all in this experience we call lives.”
In a video posted by Instagram On Saturday, August 30, Louganis said that he and his dog, G, arrived at the city of Panama, with the town of David Western Panamanian listed as their final destination.
