Scotland seeks to preserve its place at the first level of the League of Nations when taking Greece on Thursday in the first part of their promotion/relegation play-off.
Steve Clarke’s Tartan Army intends to splash at the highest level of international football after reaching the last two European championships, but will have to remain in the League A if they have to preserve their reputation before the world cup rankings.
Until the last three games of their campaign, the Scots sought an immediate return to the second layer after losing each of their first five games.
But after collecting the first point in a tie without stopping with Portugal in October, midfielder John McGinn inspired victories about Croatia and Poland to get third in A1.
Greece also aims to do it for the first time, although after they were unfortunate to end as a runner-up in the B2 league, after coinciding with the record for five victories in England and a defeat.
This even included an impressive victory over the three lions in Wembley and won six of his last seven in all competitions, will be confident when they welcome the Scots.

The young Starlet Ben Doak will be lost on both legs due to a serious thigh injury, but Clarke has been able to remember Che Adams and Lewis Ferguson, the latter of which he went out to the Euro 2024.
Lawrence Shankland has lost its place on the senior side to young James Wilson, while Lennon Miller and George Hirst won their first call.
Vangelis Pavlidis will be Greece’s attack after scoring 20 goals in all competitions for Benfica this season and will be excelled by the attacker of the Brugge Christos Tzolis club, which has been common in the Champions League this season.
Steve Clarke has named his first scotland of the year, as we prepare to face Greece next week.

Greece: Vlachodimos? ROTA, MAVROPANOS, CHATZIDIAKOS, TSIMIKAS; Mantalos, Siopis; Masouras, Pelkas, Tzolis; Ioannidis
Scotland: Gordon; Ralston, Soutar, Hanley, Robertson; Gilmour, Ferguson; McGinn, Mctominay, Christie; Adams
The game starts at 19.45 in the United Kingdom and is available to see the BBC Scotland.
This should show a hard tie for Scotland on two legs and a victory away from home in the first stage seems a high order.
We look forward to a tie nearby, leaving everything to play in the second stage.
