Golden Boy vs. Match room 5 vs. 5 Act on the table, says De La Hoya

Promoter Oscar De La Hoya revealed that he is in discussions to hold an event Golden Boy Promotions: Matchroom Boxing 5 vs. 5 in 2025.

This would be a competition for De La Hoya to match five of his best Golden Boy fighters against Eddie Hearn’s top five available men. The two fighters would compete to prove who has the best.

Golden Boy-Matchroom showdown

“We continue to have discussions and prepare to do some big things in 2025,” Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya told Fight Hub TV about planning to do a 5v5 competition with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing next year.

Shakur Stevenson vs. William Zepedia
Edgar Berlanga or Diego Pacheco vs. Bektemir Melikuziev
Jai Opetaia vs Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramírez
Ernesto Mercado vs. Oscar Duarte
Galal Yafai vs. Ricardo Sandoval

De La Hoya already has one of his fighters, Floyd Schofield Jr., challenging Hearn’s fighter, WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, on Feb. 22 at the Turki Al-Sheikh event in Riyadh. Oscar is confident that Schofield will upset Shakur in this fight.
