Girl, 14 years old, killed by a lion in Kenya

The 14-year-old girl was killed by a lion on the outskirts of Nairobi, the Kenyan wildlife service (KWS) said.

The child was torn from a residential union on a ranch next to Nairobi National Park, the security agency reports.

The alarm was raised by another teenager, and KWS Rangers followed the tracks to the nearby Mbagati River, where they found the girl’s remains in elementary school.

The lion was not found, but KWS stated that he had trapped and deploying search groups to look for animals.

The agency added that additional security measures were taken to prevent further attacks.

Nairobi National Park is only 10 km (six miles) from the city center and is home to animals such as lions, buffalo, giraffes, leopards and cheetahs.

It is enclosed on three sides to stop the animals that wander around the city, but it is open south to allow animals to migrate into the area and beyond.

While lions often come into conflict with people in Kenya, especially over the animal, not often, that people are killed.

Last year’s CCTV shots captured the moment The lion snatched the Rothweail dog from another house near Nairobi National Park.

KWS also said the 54-year-old man was killed by an elephant on Saturday. The incident occurred in the central country of Nyeri, about 130 km (80 miles) north of Nairobi.

The elephant grazed in a simple forest when he attacked a person who suffered serious injuries in his chest, destroyed ribs and internal injury.

He was taken to the hospital where he died of injuries.
