Gina gershon with no hesitation reunited with John Travolta For their new movie High rollers – especially after the pair had such an amazing time working together on the cult classic Face/off.
“(John) was just as easy and professional and kind and fun to work with as I was when I was doing Face/off”Gershon was told, 62, only US Weekly. “(But) I think in Face/off We sang a little more. We had more time during the setup, so I really liked it when we were singing whatever musicals … there was a lot of time to kill. “
Gershon Sasha portrayed John Woo’s Fflic Sci-Fi 1997, the former love of the terrorist Castor Troy (Nicolas cage). While Gershon told us that much of her screen time was spent with Cage, 61, she was still getting to know Travolta behind the scenes – and their love of music brought them closer together.
“I remember singing (with him),” Gershon remembered. “We just went around and then we started riffing on something and I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m singing with John Travolta. This is heaven.’ You know what I mean?
His role on screen, of course, was equally satisfied. Gershon noted that she “loves” working with Woo because he is open to hearing her ideas, making the experience feel more “collaborative” in the long run.
“My part was not quite what turned out, and I was still adding things here and there with the writer’s permission,” he explained. “I said, ‘guys, can I throw some things out?’ And I would go (a) work on (he) a little, and I would show him to John who would like that, or he didn’t like a couple ideas, but at least I felt comfortable enough to throw him out there, and he would say yes or no.
With all the fond memories of the cast and crew, would she return for a Face/off Progression? Paramount, after all, made a dap before Adam wingard To direct a subsequent film in 2022. The answer is Gershon’s sweeping “yes”, despite her character as if he had been killed in the final seconds of the OG film.
“That is, we see her kind of dead, (but if he was miraculously he didn’t die, I would love to join, do you cheat?” He told us. “John Woo, one of my favorite directors to work with, Nic and John a Go (Allen) And everyone again? In two seconds. “
Outside the Face/off Universe, Gershon hasn’t reunited with Woo yet – but she joined Cage again for Inconceivable 2017. Now, she and Travolta are back together for high rollers, sequence to 2024’s Money out.
“My manager, who actually happens to be John’s manager too, told me … ‘I spoke to John about you and John loves you,” Gershon remembered how the project came into being. “He would love to do this (a movie with him).… We hadn’t seen each other for a long time, and felt like we were old friends.”
Gershon portrays the wife of Travolta, Ameila, in the film, a former FBI informant who is kidnapped and used as leverage in a high casino heist. In the meantime, Travolta is revenge on his role as Mason Goddard, chief thief on a mission to save the love of his life. Although separated from Mason and the rest of his crew for the majority of the film, Amelia is a key figure in the story – and a character who allowed Gershon to dive into their love of Stunt’s work.
“I love making as many stunts myself as I can, just because I enjoy his physical,” said Gershon Us. “I guess I always want to make more stunts than they actually leave me, and I always like, no, no, really, I’m really good at this. Let me. ‘ I must persuade them to be in the middle of all chaos. ”
Gershon’s girlfriend towards living on the edge certainly translates into the characters he plays on screen, as the actress is known for her portrayal of “strong women.” While Gershon was proud of that fact, she would be interested in exploring a new approach to his typical archetype.
“I would love to play a completely fragile person, gentle trying to survive,” he said Us. “I think I enjoy playing survivors more than victims just because I don’t like watching that. I mean, (my loud rollers) character, (Amelia), she was strong at first. She’s been training and that was her job, but… it would be fun to play someone who is not really strong in the same way, but yet they have to survive and they do.”
High rollers Now playing in theaters, on demand and digital.
