The gilded age Raises the poles this season by apparently killing a second main character.
During Sunday’s episode, August 3, from the popular HBO series George Russell (Morgan Spector) Shot him in his study by a mysterious intruder. The screen broke into black as the shot was fired, and George’s fate left unclear.
“Those final scripts were slightly postponed, so it took some time before I got them. But when I read the finale for that episode, I was delighted, because it was so much for our show,” Spector, 44, told Diversity on Sunday for the possible death of his character. “It’s absolutely historically correct. This sort of thing happened during that age, but it doesn’t feel like the gilded age.”
Spector did not disregard this season that he was his last. “You should be very concerned. In the 19th century, shooting wounds were still nearly dangerous,” he noted. “Many people didn’t survive them. I don’t have a contract for next season yet, so who knows?”
According to the actor, George’s shooting took inspiration from real life.
“When I read the script, it wasn’t that long Luigi mangione Shooting United Healthcare CEO. I was like, ‘(The gilded age creator) Julian Fellows In Glairvoyant, ‘”he noted.” My sense doubled that there is a way this show, no matter how quiet, is in dialogue actually with our current moment, simply by virtue of structural similarities between the two periods. “
Spector might see how The gilded age will make Reference to current events, saying, “These two periods have huge wealth and huge inequality. Both of them are characterized by industrial titans that are a form of rocking the surrounding state by its tail. The consequences of that can be violence.”
The historic drama, which first performed in January 2022, is set in the United States during the Gilded Age: The Prosperity Years of the 1880s in New York City. After facing criticism from viewers that the show did not take enough large narrative swings, the fourth season, which began to vent in July, has taken Us by surprise.
George’s last possible view on Sunday came just a week after The gilded age Killed off John Adams (Elder ClaBourne).
“The show is ‘The Gilded Age’ right? It’s a period of 30- or 40 years of American history. The need for building a world when you tell a story like that on canvas is huge. And so the whole first season, or much of the first season, was about introducing all these characters and letting you remember their names and jobs,” continuing. “When you tell a big story like this, it’s like writing a 1,000 -page novel. The first 100 pages are all about establishing who this is or that person.”

He added: “And now we’re allowed to paint on that canvas. Part of what’s fun about the show is that very small gesture poles can be very high. That’s why these time plays are exciting. They are the play.”
As for where does the show go next? Spector revealed that there were moments where the cast and crew were don’t expect to make more episodes of The gilded age.
“We were all on five and six years bargains. During the strike, all our contracts ended and that was also a time of incredible excitement in the business. That great Netflix correction, and there was a lot of structural challenge in the business, and we knew our show was very expensive,” he explained. “Many of us felt like the fact that our contracts had ended was a sign that we were on the edge. And then during the second season, towards the second half, suddenly it was, ‘Oh, there’s an audience for this show that we were not sure we were going to find us.’ This sudden basis was of interest.
