Gisla Maxwell, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, was transferred from prison in Florida to a new minimum security facility in Texas, the authorities have confirmed.
This step comes when Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year term for trading sex, has pressed the Supreme Court to cancel her conviction while looking for pardon by President Donald Trump.
Earlier in July, Maxwell held two meetings with the Deputy Prosecutor General of the United States, the details of which were not announced.
Maxwell is in the center of disputes related to Trump administration processing in Epstein files, and the reasons for transfer from prison in Florida are unclear.
While the assumptions have been crowded that Trump could pardon Maxwell, the White House earlier said: “No indulgence is given and discussed.”
BBC contacted the White House to comment on Maxwell’s move to Texas.
“We can confirm that the GhisLaine Maxwell is in custody of the Federal Prison Bureau at the Federal Camp (FPC) Brian in Brian, Texas,” Bop said on Friday.
Lawyer Maxwell David Oscar Marcus confirmed the transfer, but refused to comment.
In her statement, the late family of Virginia Jeffer, one of the victims of Jeffrey Epstein – expressed her “horror and disgust” that they called the “preferred handling” provided by GhisLain Maxwell.
They further condemned the move, which was made “without any notice to Maxwell’s victims.”
“This is an unsuccessful victim of justice before our eyes,” the statement reads. “The American public must be outraged by a special treatment provided by a pedophile and a criminal offender.”
The facility, the FPC Bryant, is located about 100 miles (160 km) from the capital of Texas Austin.
Like other federal prison camps, prisoners in FPC Bryant are hosted in hostels, with a low ratio of employees and interlocutors compared to other, safer federal prisons. It contains prisoners serving time for non -violent crimes and crimes with white collars.
Also located among approximately 650 prisoners indoors Or disgraced CEO of Theranos Elizabeth HolmesThe serving 11-year prison term after he was found guilty of deceiving investors in her blood launch in 2022.
For comparison, the facility where Maxwell was located in Florida, FCI Tallahassee, has more than 800 prisoners, both men and women. Both facilities are officially considered to be “low security” federal prisons.
While discipline is strict on the facility, and all prisoners are expected to work, they also have access to foreign languages and business classes, can play sports, watch television and attend religious services.
Contact with family members is allowed for video calls, and the prisoners are allowed to visitors on weekends and vacations, according to a prison manual published by the authorities on the Internet.
Less than a week ago, Maxwell’s legal team noted that she was ready to testify before Congress that she knows about the case, but only if she is provided with strict legal protection.
Earlier in July, she held two meetings with US Prosecutor General Todd Blanche, who said she plans to find out if she could provide additional information about other people who could help Epstein in sexual abuse.
After the meetings, he said he would reveal what he learned in the “appropriate time”. Maxwell’s lawyer stated that she did not promise or searched in return.
Pressure on Trump’s President is increasing to release more Epstein files after he repeatedly promised to do so while on the company’s way last year.
Instead, Trump accused political competitors of using the case to divert attention from his achievements after returning to the post.
