Shakur Stevenson continues to call Gervonta Davis after his hardest victory than expected over William Zepeda last Saturday night in Queens, New York.
Stevenson (24-0, 11 kos) is labeling his hope of fighting the tank as “the biggest struggle of boxing”. If it is true, it would mean that it is greater than the struggle of Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford.
Since Shakur Stevenson has been fighting his last two fights, it is impossible to take him seriously on his “biggest struggle”. Stevenson is not a draw, as we saw the many empty seats for the Louis Armstrong stadium last Saturday.
Shakur did not seemed spectacular in his unanimous victory of 12 round on Zepeda (33-1, 27 kos). He was won the whole fight and overflowed with punches in the first six rounds.
The judges were very friendly with Stevenson with their score. In fact, a judge marked it 11-1 For Stevenson. He only gave Zepeda a round in the fight. That’s amazing.
Another had it 10-2 For Shakur, who is equally puzzling. If you see the struggle, you will know that it was almost a draw. It was difficult to give Shakur more than one round in the first six. Did not devastate the whole second half. It still seemed to lose two of the rounds.
The scores were 118-110, 118-110, 119-109.
Shakur’s performance criticism
“How constant was. I wanted to win this struggle really,” Shakur Stevenson said in Ring Magazine YouTube Canal when asked if there was something that surprised him about William Zepeda in his struggle last Saturday.
Zepeda beat and went out to Shakur in the fight. The scores of the wide judges did not reflect the most numerous features that Zepeda landed. He definitely did it. Shakur’s face showed that he had taken more punishment than Zepeda, whose face was marked.
“No, he did not,” Shakur said, responding to his daughter, who said, “He almost got you out.”
Shakur seemed injured and was almost fallen by a right hand of Zepeda in the third round. He barely stood and struck in the round. No wonder Stevenson is not willing to admit that he was injured. This would be of character for him.
“He was constant. He continued to come. He was hard. He worked hard tonight. So I give respect for him,” Shakur said about Zepeda.
The struggle cemented the vision that Fans have that Stevenson has no power, because he could not hurt Zepeda at any time during the contest. He often landed clean against Zepeda, but the Mexican acted as if he were nothing. Showed no sign to do -sick.
“What’s next? I told everyone, I want the biggest boxing of boxing. You know what I want. Therefore, we do -Reality, “Stevenson said about the desire to fight Gervonta Davis.
Stevenson obviously wants Davis’s struggle for the giant day he will get, because this is not a matter of him who wants to fight the best. Shakur is smart enough to know that the tank has deteriorated by not fighting enough. Money has changed, tank, removing its ambition.
Tank Davis vs Shakur is not the biggest struggle in boxing. It is not even the third largest struggle. It is not clear if Stevenson has been tracking things, but Gervonta’s actions have dropped dramatically from their controversial tie against Lamont Roach last March. The boxing world saw that Tank Davis lost this struggle and was given a draw in the 12 rounds by the judges.
Gervonta worsened his situation as he was arrested last Friday by domestic drums. Although it is outside, he has made a lot of criticism of the fans.
The popularity that the tank had diminished once has declined because he constantly chose a weak opposition, not defying -himself facing the best.
