On Saturday night, March 1, the WBA Light World Champion, Gervonta “Tank”, Davis was involved in a highly competitive battle against Lamont Roach JR, and the conclusion of the twelve -round contest, the fight was declared a majority tie.
Initially, the party received a large number of criticism due to the fact that Lamont Roach was an unknown name. In addition to the lack of recognition of name, Roach was the third fighter of the last four years to leave a lower weight class to face Davis.
Boxing fans who were immediately sold in this struggle, accepted the party due to the rivalry of Baltimore-Washington DC. The champion Defending Gervonta Davis is from Baltimore and the Challenger Lamont Roach is a native of Washington DC.
On the night of struggle, Gervonta Davis turned to his traditional slow start, as he succeeded only in a punch on the initial round. After the first round, the action was collected as most of the exchanges between Davis and Roach occurred inside their pocket.
In the eighth round, Lamont Roach had a great time when a counter landed in his right hand that supported Davis. The controversy would enter the combat during the 9th round when Davis was hit by a dagger, and then he retreated and a knee was taken. Davis proceeded to shake in his corner to get his face.
The Tank Davis clung, as the referee did not rule his knee as a defeat, and no sentence was made because Davis wiped his face. It seemed that Roach could have had some slightly worked work, during the course of the fight, but at the conclusion of the contest, the three judges marked him as a majority tie.
A few days later, Lamont Roach’s lawyer sent a letter to New York State Athletic Commission asking them to annul the result due to the dispute of the defeat. A decision has not yet been revealed, but struggle fans expect a resale between Davis and Roach in the near future.
Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 kos) is a highly qualified boxer who made many doubts in believers. The Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach has all the elements of a past boxing situation that began to develop about twenty-three years.
From the mid -1990’s to the early 2000’s Pensacola, Florida’s native, Roy Jones JR, was a superstar boxer who was considered one of the best free -free fighters in the world. While Jones enjoyed fame and glory, Antonio Tarver, a native of Florida, from Florida, was placing Jones on his radar.
Growing in Florida, Antonio Tarver was well aware of Roy Jones, and on the night of November 8, 2003 he had the opportunity to share the ring with the iconic boxer. Tarver turned out to be a very difficult rival, but unfortunately for Tarver he lost the struggle by majority decision.
Six months later, Antonio Tarver shocked the world when a left hand landed and scored a second victory in the second round on Roy Jones Jr. The two would meet one third and last time in October 2005 when Tarver won by a unanimous decision.
Gervonta “Tanc” Davis (30-0-1, 28 kos) is a qualified boxer punch that organically built a huge fanbase because of its ability to produce prominent-style work. It is a popular multi-division world champion that is recognized as one of the faces of boxing.
Similar to Jones vs Tarver, the tank vs. Roach Bout featured a superstar boxer who was hungry and sought to take advantage of his great opportunity. Like Tarver, Lamont Roach gave his opponent of the superstar as much as he could handle, but unfortunately for Roach he reduced to the victory.
With all the controversy over the first struggle, it seems that there will be a tank vs Roach 2. If there is a second struggle, the question is, Lamont Roach will be able to follow in the footsteps of Antonio Tarver and fired on a rival who is a generational talent.
It is sure to say that Lamont Roach will not overthrow Tank Davis in the second round of resale, but if Roach is able to double his patience, his time and effective within the game in the second fight, he will have a good chance of removing the massive annoyance.
