German troops are constantly sent to the eastern border of Lithuania

From the Second World War, Germany has made its first constant foreign military deployment, sending troops to Lithuania’s eastern flank.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Defense Minister Boris Pistaria were present at the inauguration ceremony for deployment, in the campaign of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nazi in the city of Vilnius.

“Peace in Europe was defeated, Russia violates the order that we collectively took as a lesson from the horrors of World War II,” Mertz said.

Lithuania is bordered by Latvia and Poland, as well as the Russian exceptional Kaliningrad in the West and the ally of the Moscow Belarusian in the East.

BBC BBC correspondent, Jess Parker, Vilnius’s inaugural ceremony reports.
