German Defense Minister warned Ukraine to disagree with a transaction that provides for broad territorial concessions in return for ceasefire with Russia.
Boris Pistaria said that Ukraine “should not go to the last proposal of the US president,” which, he said, would be “surrender”.
This week, US President Donald Trump said “most of the highlights (transactions) are agreed.” The reports suggest that Ukraine can be asked to abandon large sections of land confiscated by Russia, including Crimea.
The President of the Ukrainian Valodimir Zelensky repeatedly rejected the territorial concessions, saying that the issues of the land can be discussed after the ceasefire was agreed.
On Sunday, Pistaria told the German public TV and radio company Horde that Kiev knew that he might have to part with some territory to ensure the ceasefire regime.
“But they will definitely not go so far – or they should not go as far away – as the last proposal of the US president,” he said.
“Ukraine can get a year ago what was included in this proposal, it is like a surrender. I cannot notice the value added.”
BBC did not see the exact details of the last US plan. On Friday, Reuters reports that proposals have been noticed in the United States, which included the American legal adoption of the illegal annexation of Russia Crimea and the actual recognition of Russian control over other occupied areas, including all Lugansk in the east.
Reuters says there is also a counter-Propanov from Europe and Ukraine, which reportedly say the parties will discuss only what is happening from the occupied Ukrainian territory when the ceasefire came into force.
The US plan also excludes Ukraine’s membership in NATO military alliance and sees the Coalition Coalition eagerly in the UK, which provides security guarantee after ceasefire operates without US participation.
Meanwhile, Europeans want the United States to give “reliable” guarantees in the form of cast iron commitment in NATO style to help Ukraine when attacking it.

On Sunday, US Secretary of State Mark Rubio urged Russia and Ukraine to move forward to secure a peaceful deal.
“It should happen soon,” Rubio NBC said. “We cannot continue to devote time and resources to this effort if it does not come into the fruit.”
The United States has recently warned that it would leave the negotiations unless progress is made.
