The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus has been selected as the ICC Associate Cricketer of the Year for 2024. Gerhard Erasmus earned the honor thanks to to his consistent and outstanding performances in both ODIs and T20Is throughout the year.
Erasmus displayed remarkable batting form that played a pivotal role in Namibia, picking up crucial wins in both white-ball formats. In addition to his batting contributions, Erasmus proved effective with his off-spin. He also put in commendable performances in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The International Cricket Council announced Gerhard Erasmus as the winner of the Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Year 2024 on Sunday 26 January. The ICC wrote: “Consistency personified 🌟 For the second time, Namibia’s talismanic captain Gerhard Erasmus has been named the ICC Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Year.”

Gerhard Erasmus started the year with a man-of-the-match performance against Nepal in League 2 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, taking 5/28 and scoring a crucial half-century in a low-scoring chase . He scored a quick 52 off 31 balls and took 2/29 in a narrow defeat against Scotland in the T20 World Cup.
He was pivotal in a thrilling super over win against Oman, which was Namibia’s only win of the tournament. Erasmus proved resilient against a formidable Australian side, scoring 36 runs in the match. His ability to deliver in high-pressure situations made him a deserving recipient of the award.
The 29-year-old concluded 2024 with outstanding performances in both ODIs and T20Is. Erasmus scored 364 runs at an average of 33.09 and took 18 wickets at 22.38 in 12 ODI matches.
In T20Is, he amassed 363 runs at an average of 33.00 and secured 18 wickets at an impressive average of 13.61 in 13 matches. In all, the all-rounder scored 727 runs and took 36 wickets in 25 matches.
UAE women’s cricket team captain Esha Oza has been named the ICC Women’s Associate Cricketer of the Year for 2024. Oza delivered exceptional performances all round in her team’s success.

Esha Oza began the year by leading the UAE to victory in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Premier Cup, where she was the tournament’s top run-scorer and named Player of the Tournament.
Oza played a crucial knock of 66 off 39 balls against the Netherlands, helping the team into the knockout stages of the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier. She continued her good form with another performance of 66 runs against Sri Lanka in the semi-final.
