Friday the 13th has been a dormant franchise for nearly two decades, but Sweet revenge Here to finally break that slumber. Due to years of legal engagements, the series has not been able to produce an official new project since restarting/restarting/restarting/recycling 2009 Friday the 13th. Thankfully, all the Hullabaloo is calmed and there is now … Jason Universe (Jason UN1V3RSE if you’re nasty), an all -inclusive brand flag for the future of the series.

We will talk about that in a while, but it is important to note that their first official restart from Friday the 13th saga with Sweet revengeA short film that seems to act as a neat little story that anyone can jump to. Well, as long as they have some sort of understanding of who Jason Voorhees is like a legendary boogeyman.

I’m not going to become some foam on the mouth of Friday the 13th fan and smash it all Sweet revenge Short – you can watch it at this link Because we can’t incorporate videos with age restrictions, but hopefully you will read my chosen words carefully too-but I want to talk about a few things that it introduces in terms of what we can expect from the future of the franchise.

Friday the 13th is actually unlucky day of the year

At a very basic level, I think it’s fair to say that the name “Friday the 13th” goes the way of Dodo. Branding Jason Universe, as well as naming this short Sweet revengeshows that it is likely to be a legal matter with the title of anything “Friday the 13th.”

That particular title is under wing Of the weightingThe studio originally produced and distributed Friday the 13th film. It’s a shame as that is such an indelible title, but it looks like this future iteration of Jason Voorhees will have to do without it. We know that the upcoming TV series is entitled Crystalso it certainly seems time to admit that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day.

But, let’s talk about Crystal and what Sweet revenge He could be telling us.

Jason’s world gets over

Sweet revenge Takes an interesting turn with his last girl’s main character, Eve (Ally Ioannides), where Jason takes her under the lake during the day and reappears long after dusk. It’s a jarring jump in time, let alone the appearance of Eve once she pops back up. She looks like he could be undead herself. And with the path that her character takes by the end, it certainly seems to have been put on an equal basis with whatever this version of Jason Voorhees.

So what does this have to do with Crystal TV series underway? For starters, my assumption is that this Jason Universe branding is an attempt to create a Canon umbrella for the future of the franchise. I hate even typing that kind of terminology, but the cinematic universe is a model that franchise properties still want to adopt. It stands to reason that anything produced under the banner of Jason Universe – short films, feature movies, TV shows, video games, diapers – would be subject to some kind of established cannon.

Therefore could Sweet revenge be a small chapter of backstage for Crystal? Eve could be another spectral/undead character disturbing the land of the old campsite. This may set up some kind of literature (blech) for the way this new Jason works in the Jason’s Buddhist.

Will have to wait to see, but you can watch Sweet revenge And get your own theories to go. I hope next time we see Jason, it looks a little less like a spirit Halloween Mannequin.
