Former French Interior Minister first apologized A fiasco 2022 in Stade de France Liverpool’s football fans were seen in the riot.
Gerald Darmanin acknowledged that the arrangements in the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid were mistaken, and that his first public remarks were guilty of English fans – they were a mistake.
“It was a failure because I did not foresee. It was a mistake on my part. I was beaten with my bias,” said Darmanin, the Minister of Justice of France.
“The scapegoat was easy to find, and I apologize to the Liverpool fans. They were completely right to suffer. It was a mistake and a failure.”
Police used tear gas on Liverpool supporters, and some fans were scared by the gangs of French youth.
In a long interview on Legend YouTube, Darmanin said the night was “the biggest failure” in his career.
“The fact that I did not appreciate this evening was that the real problem was not from the supporters of the English language, but from the offenders who robbed fans.
“Our security agreements were not developed for this event. We had amantic police … With big boots and shields – not perfect for running. What you need against such an offense is officers in the sneakers.
“We were wrong in the agreement. We were waiting for the war (football) hooligans, and what we received was Magers.”
In their first comments after the problems, Darmanin and police chief Didier Lalement stated that a dangerous favorite at the stadium was largely caused by Liverpool supporters, who has false tickets.
The lawsuit was subsequently unleashed in an independent report ordered by UEFA.
In another section of the interview, Darmanin stated that there was no safe place in France – a comment that caused fire from the right opposition.
“Many of the French people can see that (violence) has become common, it was metastasis. It is not only in places where you once sought potential problems.
“Nowadays you see that the smallest village village has the experience of cocaine or cannabis.”
Jean-Philip Tangui, a deputy of the national rally, noted that Darmanin has been in the government since the first election of President Emanuel Macron in 2017.
Tungey said that “he treats the French as imbecils, making all these so -called rigid declarations when the record is so catastrophic.”
Darmanin, who is 42 years old and from the political right, did nothing in an interview to dispel speculation that he could be replaced by Macron in 2027.
“I think about the presidential election? The answer is yes,” he said.
“This does not mean that I will be a candidate, but it means that I have ambitions to make the country better than what I see now.”
