France sees a day of protests led by a grassroots motion named Let’s block everything (“Let’s block everything”) in a demonstration of anger against the political class and the proposed budget cuts.
The demonstrations are held on the same day that the new Prime Minister Sebastien Locorna swore after the failure of his predecessor François Bayer, as a result of the vote of confidence earlier this week.
The demonstrators blocked the streets, set fire to the bunkers and violated access to infrastructure and schools across the country.
About 250 people were arrested by the middle of the morning, said Interior Minister Bruno Retal.
The bus was set on fire in Rennes, and electric cables near Toulouse were sabotaged, he added.
Several thousand people gathered in Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux and Montpellier.
However, the violations remained quite large. Most of the arrests were made in Paris or around it, where about 1000 participants of the action – a lot in masks or in balaclava – collided with police near the railway station of Gore du Nord.
Some tried to enter the station but were thwarted by agents who fired tear gas, French media reported.
Many participants of the rally stopped political slogans against President Emanuel Macron and Locorna. Several posters were transported against the gas war.
Foggy movement let’s block everything that seems to be born on social media a few months ago and gained power over the summer when it urged people to protest against Bayrou budget reducing 44 billion (£ 38 billion).
The movement is clear left. Its requirements include more investment in public services, high income taxation, freezing and macron resignation.
As a result of the protests on Wednesday, let’s block everything that urged people to take part in the actions of civil disobedience against “rigor, contempt and humiliation”.
A group of young participants of the rally outside Mountains Nord told the BBC that they were going out in Solidarity with people in unstable situations across France.
“We are here because we are very tired of how Macron is engaged in the situation” on the spiral debt of France, said 25 Alex, adding that he does not believe in the new Prime Minister, so as not to “repeat the cycle”.
Leakor Macron Loyalist and Fifth Prime Minister in the country in less than two years.
His appointment was already criticized by both right and left parties.
At first, he will need to come up with a budget that is fond of most MPs in the French parliament – the same difficult endeavor that reduced its two predecessors.
In 2024, France’s deficit reached 5.8% of GDP, but three different ideological groups in a deeply divided Assembly disagreed with how to solve the crisis.
The France Unbowed Radical Left Party has already stated that there would be no petition for confidence in the leakna.
However, this movement will require support for other parties. Currently, the largest parliamentary party is the far -right national action – he said that he was “listening to the leakna” let “without many illusions.”
In a brief speech after the transfer of power at the residence of the Prime Minister Locorno thanked Bayur for his work and promised the French people: “We will come there.”
“The instability and political crisis, which we are experiencing demand for sobriety and humility,” Locorna said.
“We need to be more creative, more serious as we work with the opposition,” he added before announceing that he would start negotiating with political parties and trade unions immediately.
