Former US President Bill Clinton is hospitalized with a fever

Former US President Bill Clinton was hospitalized due to a high temperature, the Democrat’s press secretary said.

“He remains in good spirits and is very grateful for the excellent care he is receiving,” Angel Ureña wrote on X, previously on Twitter.

He said Clinton was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Monday night for tests and observation after developing a fever.

Mr Ureña’s statement did not provide further details on the Arkansas Democrat’s condition, although US media reports indicated that Clinton was expected to recover.

This was reported by a source close to Clinton NBC News that the situation is “not urgent” and the former president will be “fine”. The news network reported that Clinton was awake and in good spirits.

This is the last threat to the health of the 42nd US president, who worked in the White House from 1993 to 2001.

Clinton, 78, was last hospitalized for six days in 2021 in California after developing an infection in his blood. He is also known to have suffered from heart problems in the past.

In 2004, aged 58, he underwent a quadruple bypass after doctors discovered signs of extensive heart disease, and a decade later, after complaining of chest pains, he was diagnosed with a blocked artery.

Shortly after the second operation, the ex-president, known for his love of fatty food, became a vegan. In 2016, he told Politico, “I wouldn’t be around if I hadn’t gone vegan. It’s wonderful.”

Clinton was heavily involved in the presidential campaign this year as he toured the country to promote Vice President Kamala Harris’ candidacy for the presidency.

Last month, he released his latest book, Citizen: My Life After the White House.
